Last year's event was a great success! We had a wonderful turnout of students and faculty and were able to raise over $5,500 for our students! Because of the money raised by the Phone-A-Thon, many students who applied for funding from the Student Support Fund were able to attend conferences, pay their research participants, or otherwise benefit from their involvement with the Phone-A-Thon.

Additionally, some fantastic Grand Prizes were awarded to the most active and successful of our volunteers, and drawings for minor prizes were held throughout the event.

Thanks for all of the effort that was made last year!

I hope you will make a commitment to support the 2008 Phone-A-Thon!

Ed Psych Student Support Fund Application

The purpose of the Student Support Fund is to be a yearly distribution of funds that were partially generated from the Annual Departmental Phone-A-Thon. The spirit of the Student Support Fund is to create a small amount of money that can support student-initiated thesis/dissertation research projects, encourage student engagement in professional development activities that will assist them in employment and job placement efforts, and/or to provide some very limited support to offset the costs among students in high financial need. Students who receive money from this fund must be matriculated into a degree program within the department, must be in good academic standing (and within program time-lines for completing their program of study) consistent with their respective program's academic standards policies and must be endorsed by at least one regular faculty member who is a core member of the student's respective program. Application does not guarantee funding. Participation in the Phone-A-Thon is STRONGLY advised.

Money from the Student Support Fund will be administered annually. The increment of support will not exceed $300 for any given student, but may range between $100 and $300. The number and amount of the awards will depend on the funds available in the given year. Initial decisions will be made by the training directors of each of the graduate programs in the Educational Psychology Department. A recommendation for funding will be submitted to the Department Chair who will authorize the dispersing of the funds.
